Diana, using a lab for prints and fulfillment has one additional advantage: someone to blame . From every show I shoot, I'll get one or two people who, in an effort to get an additional print for free, will tell me the print they received from the lab wasn't any good: color was off, too light, too dark, etc. So I tell them to send me the print and I'll make sure the lab corrects the problem and sends them a reprint right away. Curiously, I never get the print from those folks and the "problem" miraculously goes away. BTW, I seed myself on every 3rd order and receive a print to check print quality so I have a pretty good idea what the clients are receiving. Jim

Ah yes, they are the same ones who carry the dead cockroach in their pocket when they go out to eat. When they've had their fill they put the cockroach to work.

How interesting about H&H. They were very select as to who they took on. Two friends of mine who did a great deal of printing with them, switched to ACI. I have been pleased with ACI but really have loved the mounting and finishing of Burrell, and they are not listed. Thanks for posting this Preston.
Do you know why your friends quit using H&H? They certainly got good marks. I checked out their webpage and see that there is an "account application". Does this mean they want to cater to high-end photographers and have a dollar or volume minimum or something?
I think I'm going to try out several different services and do my own little survey.
Thanks everyone for your input on services and printers. Diana

They used them for many years and said the problems were too many and often. When I see them next month I will see if they are still happy with ACI. H&H turned me down when I was first starting out. They did not say why but then why should they? My guess was that you are correct.
