These are all excellent captures Roger. Poor conditions but it appears the even light was great for these portraits. Great job.

I agree- great shots. I actually think the flat lighting helps bring out the details - no harsh shadows.

I think these are great. You nailed the focus and the composition is great.
What lens are you using? My longest lens is the 200, just not long enough in some situations.

I've got to agree with the others, I don't see "bad" lighting. The browns might be a bit dull, but the tans, whites, and the hawks eyes stand out great. A lot of your other bird shots seemed to have a harshness to them, while these have a nice soft feel to them.

I have trouble getting that close to the Red Tail Hawks, skittish birds. Nice job.
