Hey Guys,

It has been an insane couple of weeks...LOL, the park pass certainly paid for itself. I was able to hit Bryce, Zion, Canyonlands and Arches NPs. The first half was my annual boys trip with my pop and brother. The second half was helping out with Steve Kossack's group. Both a blast - but very different experiences. will be publishing a story to go along with it all when I am able to finally put it all together. Here are a few shots from Bryce. Honestly, there was 25 gigs of data between the 4 parks and it is hard to figure out what I like 'best.'

Here are a couple of shots that looked pretty good to me from Bryce Canyon. The last, I THINK appears a bit more orange than I remember it. I am going to try to tone it down when I have some time.

I am a bit wiped out...I have been getting about 4.5 hours of sleep for the last two weeks. LOL, I feel pity for pretty much anyone who has had to be around a 30 foot radius of me. I have been absolutely flying as a result of the caffeine...pretty much in the realm of free association. :P

Welcome home and I hope you can catch up on sleep. The first image is lovely and a great indication of how great a trip you must have had.

James - glad you had a ball. Hopfully you were able to get your family around like you wanted in the different parks.

I particularly like the shadows and depth of the first shot above -looking forward to more.

Thanks for the feedback. Let me ask a question about the 2nd shot with the sunset. I have tapered down the orange...but this is obviously a crop from an 8x12 frame. Would you rather less sky? Anyway, here is another. On this image, I did mute the red channel a bit...I believe that it looks accurate.

James,
actually, I like both treatments. The sky is very interesting in it's own right and the view of the landscape is also surreal. The colors are intense but they look similar to other images I've seen of the area.

Sounds like you had a whirlwind two weeks of activity. Welcome back and I look forward to seeing more images.

Jim

Hi James!

Welcome back. I think the landscape at Bryce calls out for blue sky and big puffy clouds if you are blessed to have them. They make an excellent compliment the deep rich colors of the earth. The colors on your second treatment are more accurate, but I wouldn't mind a little more sky.

BTW, if you were to split the image in half horizontally and add some sky to the top half, I think you would also have two very nice shots.

Looks like an awesome trip. Get some rest, get all of that Caffeine out of your system.

Wow, I like all the shots. My favorite is the third shot, what beautiful light, it looks like it's getting toward sunset.

I missed these when you first posted. Wow. What a place. Really like the layers in the first image.

Thanks Guys for the responses. Sadly, I have not had time to process more from the trip. I have a lot lot more and just no time to put it all together. I hope that in a couple of weeks I will be able to sit down and process more than a few.

Cheers
James
