Had a chance to photograph lesser prairie chickens with Dick Wilberforce in Canadian Thursday morning and it was quite a show. Dick is a real gentleman and has spent a lifetime photographing wildlife and prairie chickens. the chickens did not disappoint us. the lesser prairie chickens is being considered for the endangered species list and this Lek is down to 20 birds. if you would like to photograph them before its to late I can get Dicks number to you. He only goes out 3 times a week so the birds don't get stressed and I'm not sure how long the season.

this is what a Lek looks like, doesn't look like anything out of the normal but its about an acre and only the chickens know why they are there.

my only fighting shot, man they jump high and fast.

These are very nice Gary. Sad to think they could be gone in our lifetime if we are not careful. Thanks for sharing with us.

Kinda of a bummer if they don't protect them they will be gone, if they do protect them we can't go photograph them as they will not let us get this close, I understand the Attwater prairie chickens you are not allowed within 400 yards.

Beautiful shots. Sad thought that some day our kids may not be able to see them. Hopefully, it never comes to that.
