Hi, it's been a LONG time since I've been able to visit here and it feels great to be back.

I've only been using my photography lately to list stuff for sale online or to enhance my online published stories, but recently I felt that urge to start pushing myself to do more than take snapshots.

This a web-resized version of a shot from my Nikon D90, (sorry first I listed the wrong lens! It's just the one that came with the kit -- 18-105 VR), of my new little stray/abandoned/recently adopted by me, wiener-dog mix Gizmo.

I know I'm not submitting it correctly but I don't have access right now to the hard drive where my original files are stored. At any rate, since he is a black dog I was curious what your 'knee-jerk' reactions are to this.

1/200th, f5.3, -1.3EV, autofocus I think, lightly post processed in PSCS2 (cropped, adj auto levels and contrast, signed).

If it's not possible to critique w/o the original file, I can send that tonight.

btw this pup is a RIOT, lol, and now has a YouTube presence.

Thanks a lot for looking!

Cathy

OK the file won't show up here, but it will email, so if anyone is curious or interested enough in viewing the original file I could attach it to an email. Don't know why it won't show here though -- sorry.

great exposure & processing
very cute pup

I feel that the pose and angle of the shot is akward, just a feeling that I can't pin down exactly LOL maybe try being lower, closer to the dogs level, rather than shooting down
and if you're going to include most of the body, try to not crop a tiny bit ... the whole dog, or a tighter crop on the head usually works well
do you have others to share?

Yes, I see what you mean. I kind of snapped this on the spur of the moment, and the original has more to the right which is the area I cropped out (so the dog's body wasn't cropped at all, it's just what I'd managed to grab when I grabbed the camera).

Because you asked, here is another of the series, but I feel the exposure isn't quite right and I might need to clone out that awkward back leg . . . but I'll post it if that's OK, so you can give your input.

btw he's a GREAT pup even if he IS one of the strangest looking creatures I've ever seen!
