The unique hike of the Narrows at Zion affords one to contemplate a new vista at each bend in the Virgin river.
The hike can be taxing depending on the current in the river or where you choose to step as we hiked over three hours in one direction.
The hike in the "Narrows" is one of my most favorite hikes and is the second time I've taken it. You are in the water about 75% of the time, the water depth varies but most of the time it is below the knee.

Near the start of the hike

The typical walls are 2000 to 3000 foot up.

A repel

Looking straight up

Proof I was really hiking.

The place is Zion national park in Utah. The repelling hiker is wearing a harness, one can take a day hike which ends with a repel into the Virgin river at the Narrows. I watched as several of the repellers slipped, it was a good thing to have a harness because there were weeping walls as well as a small waterfall in their track.
