Yellowstone National Park News:
Oasis of Life Found in Yellowstone Lake
Researchers discovered an abundance of life near a deep geothermal vent on the bottom of Yellowstone Lake. They used a remotely operated vehicle built by the same man who made the one for Titanic research to survey the floor of the very large cold lake. Near the vent they found moss, worms and shrimp, at a depth of about 100 feet in 90 degree water. (Surface waters rarely exceed 64 degrees Fahrenheit). The warmed vent water contains nutrients, gases, and even poisons.

Preserving the Sound of Silence in Zion National Park
With many roads closed today for a marathon cutting through the city, parts of Istanbul were wonderfully -- if eerily -- quiet and peaceful. For just that reason, a landmark program is under way in Utah to preserve how a popular national park sounds.

Hey Roman,

Yeah - that is why I put it in the news. I decided a couple months back to not include deaths in the parks because there are so many, and honestly, it is very sad. Having said that, i added this because it is something quite rare. I read a follow-up yesterday evening that states that this particular ram had a reputation for aggressive behavior towards humans - just not at a level that they felt it needed to be put killed. Yesterday, that also happened.

James
