This is my first post here. I am a veterinarian who has taken a real interest into pet photography. Hoping to learn a lot here and grow as a photographer!

Rachel,

That is very nice, it is tough to shoot tuxedos. Beautiful light, pretty kitty. Welcome to the forum.

No. Not a Polydactyl. She does have a slight angular deformity of that carpus (wrist). She came to us that way.

Actually this cat came into the clinic when it was about 10 weeks old back in October. A client found it on his front porch. It had no movement in its back legs and was unable to urinate on its own. I was SUPPOSED to put it to sleep, but the darn thing just kept purring and looking at me. I decided to treat it for spinal injuries and give it some time. A week went by of bladder emptying by hand, medications and the DAY I was going to give up she peed on her own. Over the next few weeks it gained some motion of her back legs, but could only drag herself around. Again... just when I was about to give up... she started "sledding around" Funniest looking ambulation! It became apparent that she had trouble coordinating the front with the back so she learned to keep her front stiff and push off with her rear.

Anyhow... slowly she has gotten better. She can walk now.. albeit a little funny. I have been searching for just the right home for her for months. A client came in last week to ask me if I knew of any cats ( she had just lost her to cancer) and I KNEW immediately it was a perfect match. I spayed her Thursday and she went home to her new owner this past Saturday. She (the owner) showed me pictures of all the toys and scratching posts and such she got for her. The kitty now has more toys than my kids and the cat sleeps in the bed with her!

Ok.. much more than you asked, but wanted to share that story b/c its dear to my heart...

Rachel
