Hi all you vinyl users smile
I would like to know if any of you have the matt black?
Is the use of vinyl annoying to dogs when they step on it? Frighten some?
Are you all happy with the white that you have used?
Thanks

I've been thrilled with the white. In fact, I'm getting ready to order a longer roll. Mine is 8 feet, but I want 9 or 10.

It is less "rattly" than paper and less slick as well.

I have been wanting the black as well, and really wish they would make other colors aside from white, black and chroma green.

Thanks Jim, I feel the same about the colors.

Hey Peggy,

I have a 10x20 vinyl drop. I use it occasionally. The great thing about it is that it never really gets dirty. It is super easy to clean. The negative is that it is really (and I mean really) heavy. If you are working from a studio, it is great. If you are shlepping from residence to residence, it is a bit much.

James

Great warning James. I will be shlepping and that is a good thing to consider. I would use it at the shelter and hauling the distance could be a problem. But if I am outside, I would think it would be better than muslin.

I schlepped mine to houses and events with no more trouble than a roll of paper. It's heavy, but not any bigger / harder to transport otherwise.

I'll carry it to more events this year, but do intend to get a longer roll to permanently mount in the studio.

On an interesting note, Joe McNally is using a Vinyl backdrop on the Flash Bus tour. I went yesterday. Good stuff!

I would have liked to have gone when they were in San Diego, been watching their updates on the strobist blog.

You know, it's funny, but I found David to be very unapproachable and not very friendly. Joe on the other hand was awesome.

Both of their presentations were good though. Maybe David was just having a bad day.

The goodie bags were nice, but the "show pricing" from Adorama left a lot to be desired. My local store had the show special pricing beat by their regular pricing on almost every item.
