Looks like Toothwort (Dentaria Diphylla) to me. Very nice, delicate small flower. Nice image!

I'm wondering if I had not used such a large apeture, maybe I could have gotten a bit more of the rushing river in more focus, if it would have made the image stronger.

Well, you obviously had pretty shallow DOF but I like the effect. All depends on what your mind was seeing in that shot: if you wanted the river more involved, then stopping down would have helped. Personally, I like to isolate my main subject from the background especially in macro or semi-macro shots.
