Hey Everyone,

I don't get the offer to photograph many cats (much to my chagrin) often, it has just not been part of our business for the last several years. So, I was pretty excited when I got the phone call. This is one of a pair if cats that I photographed yesterday, named Rosie. She is a 16 year old domestic long hair.

LOL, obviously, I am not Preston, but I was pretty pleased with the results. BTW, before someone complains, I will be darkening up the dividing lines on the background. As I was working in an apartment living room, I was working on an improvised area and the drops were not able to be flush to the poles. There will need to be some cloning before the finished product comes out.

And pleased you should be! Very nice James. My favorite is number 5.

Great series of lovely pics. Only in the third, the cat seems to be out of focus - or am I wrong?

Hey Don,

Intentionally so. The idea was focus on the treat and the cat would have a blur. On the other in the series, I focused on the cat (technically that was the second of the two of the series).

Thanks for the info, James.
Now that you said it - I should have realised.

Very nice, James, and you are a braver person than I smile. I love cats and I've shot my own a fair amount over the years but I just don't have the resources to do it well in either my studio or in a portable studio setup. These are lovely and I particularly like #4. None of us are Preston. But, then he doesn't shoot Rottweilers all that well either wink. The think what Preston has is his knowledge of the cats themselves and the various breed characteristics. I don't have that and so my poses would be aesthetic but not necessarily correct.

I particularly like the lighting on these. Nice job!

Just have viewed the pics once again. They really fascinate me what is a kind of amazing as I'm not a big fan of animal-indoors shots - usually, that is. But those are really great. And the second - fully focused on the treat and the front paw in the air - is really special.

Thanks Don and all. There was another sister cat in this shoot that I have not shared who was much less shy and I will post if I have the time.

Speaking of hardly ever booking cats, I am scheduled to photograph another cat next weekend (woohoo!). Even better, they only live 15 blocks from my apartment here in the city (double woohoo!). Those will be more 'natural' in that they will be of the cat in his living environment.
