While it appears a little early, it seems the Phoebe has left the nest. Yesterday when cutting the lawn I stayed away from the shed where the nest is since the baby was standing on the edge. I was afraid the tractor would scare it into a premature departure. Well when I checked on them this morning, the nest appeared empty. We went about our chores for the day and I kept an eye out for the adults who are usually very active. All day and we never saw them. Then, towards the end I was just relaxing on the deck looking into the woods and I finally noticed the adults. Well I heard them, than looking around I noticed them. Then there was a smaller one in tow. So here is what I got.

Thanks, Jeff

Jeff, your lighting on these birds is brilliant. The first is my favorite. Stunning!

Thank you Peggysue! I appreciate it. The bird found great lighting, I was glad to find her in it and started shooting:) S/He stayed in the few light rays breaking through the canopy and I was glad:)

Thanks, Jeff

Hey Jeff,

That is really cool! What a great find! That first shot is just wonderful - love the light and composition. The baby sure does seem helpless.

Thanks again James,
It was a lucky find. I would have figured the adults would have lured the baby far away after hours out of the nest. I couldn't believe it when I spotted them in the woods. The baby does look helpless, but I do think some of that is an act. Kind of pullen mom's strings you know. On the flip side, that was surely a big world compared to the nest it just came from. I was thinking, how intimidating while I was watching it.

Thanks, Jeff
