On January 29th, our 44th Wedding Anniversary, my wife Petra and I loaded up the RV and left Tucson in an attempt to complete a camping trip to Florida that we started at about this time last year. That trip ended abruptly in Galveston, Texas when Petra slipped and broke two bones in her leg and spent the next 6 months with her leg in a cast.

Despite a couple of small glitches, we managed to make it home safe and sound a couple of days ago. My goal, photographically speaking, was to attempt to capture some useable shots of some of the exotic birds to be found there.

I've just started going through my shots. I finally actually managed to catch a few birds in flight too.

Jim,

I don't think that's a cormorant. It looks a lot like a Little Blue Heron to me.

Durwood:

The photo does have a slight purple tint to it. Doesn't show up quite so bad in the uncropped version but it is still there. I fussed with the white balance & adjusted the black clipping, but couldn't get the blacks right. Probably an artifact of the "Olympus Blue" that is so much ballyhooed over at DPR. <G>

I'm sure it is a cormorant, though. I did get a couple of nice Little Blue Herons, but none in flight.

Jim

P.S. - Thanks, Roger.
