He was on the cliff by the dam at Heron Lake. We have a few that show up in the spring to lay eggs and raise the little ones but I don't often see them in the winter.

I agree he must of taken a wrong turn. It was in the low single digits.

Isn't there a song - My Blue Heron? We have several who winter here as well. Both Great blues, Greens and night herons. They are a cool looking bird. The last one looks particularly intense.
