Still working on trying to get better stacked photos. My friend and I experimented for awhile and both agreed the 3/4 shots were the best of the puppy

I am not thrilled with how the pool background turned out, but, how about the stacked shot?

Then the 4w old puppies, which, Lord knows are fun to try and get a pseudo stacked shot

Some heashots

Julie,
get lower and shoot the stacked shot at shoulder level. For Danes, I actually shoot a lot laying on my belly. They are a very large breed and should look like it.

Thank you! I see what you are saying now and will do that next time. I shot the puppies on my stomach, I should've just stayed there

(oh my back!)

Hey Julie,

When you have big uncontrollable backgrounds, like the pool, I think I might have gone with a theme...this may sound horrible and cheesie, but LOL, I think I might have tried the Dane on the beach blanket, under the umbrella (assuming there is one), etc.

I will defer to Jim's technical advice. The idea of shooting even a Dane baby from down low, I think is a good idea.

James

I had an idea in my mind(which is a scary place!) and it worked wonderfully with the 4w puppies. It was BAD with the big puppy shots.

Trial and error are good learning tools

LOL. If there is an infinite number of mistakes that can be made...well...I have made them all.

Hi Julie!

Aren't puppies fun :-p Nice clear shots. I agree with everything Jim said. Here is a photo of my young male. I would like to have the photo a little more angled to the right but that is the breaks when you have to have a friend snap the shot when you are stacking the dog :-)

For the puppies, if you take them between the legs and gently swing them, when you place them down they generally hold the stack nicely so you can get off a few quick shots. Here is a picture of the above dog at about 5.5 weeks after being swung:

Much better down low giving a more balanced, larger impression. There will be plenty of next times.

I will tell my friend to swing the puppies on Wed and see if they will hold the stack better. I see you use cheese

I love heelers. I am not a huge herding breed fan, but the heelers are on the tops of my list as far as personality. If I had a farm, I would have one.
