Well, we had our first snow fall a couple days ago, about an inch and up to two or three in places. A nice white topping on all the mountains, followed by a 29 degree morning on August 31. It's all melted now, but the the cold temps did a great job on the skeetows!

Last night, while setting up to photograph elk, I was interuped by a very large boar grizzly. I got a bunch of good shots but they turned out currup. Did a recovery but still lost them, bummer!

Anyway, here's a lengthey fall schedule for the Glacier Park.

Hey Tony,

Thank you very much for the park updates. I had heard that it was 29 in Jackson last week as well. I am getting very excited for my trip out West in just 3 weeks. VERY excited. I even purchased my chest waders.

By some chance, did you try the Lexar software? It seems to do a solid job at recovery. You don't just need to use Lexar cards either.

Tony thanks for the great updates.
We are leaving Seattle this Friday or Sat and driving over for a week and a half or two week trip starting in Glacier National, working our way up thru Banff and Jasper.
I want to take large wildlife and landscape scenes. I spend quite a bit of time in Katmai Alaska so bugs and boggs don't bother me. I can shoot close or long telephoto.

If you had three or four favorite places in Glacier or north, what would they be?

thanks again for the great advice.

pack for snow and cold, it's snowing very hard in the mountains right now, I'd expect logan to be closed this weekend. the forcast is for better wether next week. this snow, if you hit and the clearing of this storm come sunday or monday, will make for some VERY VERY dramatic shots, I WOULD NOT MISS NEXT WEEK FOR ANYTHING. COULD BE THE BEST WEEK OF 2006 TO PHOTOGRAPH THE NORTHERN ROCKIES!

Wow, Tony that sounds great. I am coming out there in the morning. I know I have beat a dead horse to death, but can you suggest any areas or shots that I should put in my don't miss column now that all the snow has fallen? I really didn't expect the snow to be such a factor. I can't wait. Do you have any shots of all this to share?

Thanks

Matt

SNOW NOT A FACTOR that's funny!

IF ANYONE COMES TO MONTANA DURRING THE FALL WINTER OR SPING, YOU MUST TAKE SNOW SERIOUS! ESPECIALLY IF YOURE ON THE EAST SIDE. YOU MUST BE READY TO SPEND THE NIGHT IN YOUR VEHICLE! PEOPLE DIE EVERY YEAR OUT HERE IN SNOW DRIFTS OR WHITE OUTS! YOU CANT TRUST THE FORCAST - EVER! TRUST ME, I'VE RESCUED PEOPLE THAT DONT TAKE THIS ISSUE SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SNOW IS AN ISSUE. JUST THE POTENTIAL SHOULD CAUSE YOU TO BE READY -

Logan was closed due to snow this past weekend.

if it warms back up, the colors are going to be out of this world in another week or two!!!!!!! cross your fingers for NO wind, and no more low elevation snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Finalshot, I just wanted to thank you for all your help on my trip to Glacier. It was incredible. Even though I only had a few hours of sun out of 2 1/2 days it was still great. I really want to go back and spend a week some time. I was still able to get a few great shots that I feel are some of my best considering the conditions.

Thanks again.
