I set up the lights and took some shots of Hallie and the visiting Papillons today. I am bracing myself because not sure how well received this kind of photoshopping is? I like the vintage kind of look though, this is what is fun for me. I put them on a web page since there are several.

Hey Dee, I really like the look of the last 'vintage style' one and the four above that one, but I am using a really crappy computer and monitor at the moment and in the top two the backgrounds look very pixelated and washed out and I am pretty sure it is my screen rather than your photos!

Works for me. I am not so keen on the bg color of #1 and I would like to see the dog stand out from the bg a bit more. #3 is my favorite, thought I think I would like it more cropped. #5 is my second favorite. It is nice to have all the dogs looking right at the viewer.

happy shooting, Mark www.mplonsky.com/photo

Anything with Hallie in it is good with me, she's a gem. I love the school-teacher look in these - "Just sit like this Paps and look like this, follow my lead."

Thanks for the input guys! I am trying to go for a more artsy approach, but am not sure what yet. I don't want to do the typical pose the dog in the middle and take a perfect shot staring at you(not that I don't appreciate that too just am going for something different for myself). I have only had 3 chances to practice so far with studio lights though so lots of experimenting will abound lol. I just got my first muslin today (gray mottled) so have a variety to go with the white seamless. (Run Hallie run!!!)

LOL PC in that bottom one of Hallie an the two paps it looks to me like she is saying "Just...take....the...@!%#!...PICTURE!!!!"

I think you reached the "artsy" look on the last one. It has a different feeling than is commonly used. I do have a hard time with pink and dogs. Even with a toy breed, I would stay away from that - but there are always exceptions. May be a fun challenge to have us use an idea and post our results from that idea. Hard to think Tony would photograph anything in Pink!

LOL I too can't quite see Tony's rutting bull elk in pink.

I would love to do a challenge! Is anyone else up for it?

My thinking with the Papillon ones was Shabby Chic, thus the pink and pastels. I know that isn't everyones taste though (and not the top of my list although I do like it in certain situations). I love old, vintage though.

How about something like, recreating an old post card looking photo? Not with the writing, etc maybe but sepias, scratches, etc?

Or am open to any other ideas!
