I am considering the Sigma 10-20, the Tamron 11-18 or the Tokina 12-24 for my Nikon DSLR. I would appreciate comments
based on your experience.

Thank you.

I am absolutly in love with my Tokina 12-24. Now in all fairness I have heard favorable reviews for the other 2 lenses your talking about as well. The Tokina almost never leaves my camera.

Here are a few shots from it:

I see it as one of the strongest investments I have made in my landscape photography.

It does pretty nice duty as a group shot lens for weddings as well, and with the constant f/4 and you can actually use filters on it...it's quite a lens. Only issue is if you have 35mm...its a DX format only lens.

Hope this helps...if you have any questions...ask away!

I aggree with Roman, I live mine too! If you use if for landscapes, becairful with the polerizers, even the thin hoya as you will get uneaven skys. Its real hard to get even sky's with a super wide and polerizer. But, I'd buy it again in a heart-beat! I still use my 17-35 afs because I like to shoot closer to normal, but when I need a wider lens, I dont have any reservations about going to the Tokina 12-24. . .

The Tokina is regularly rated to be the top of its class. I would probably go with that one. I have heard virtually nothing about the Sigma which is odd as they are 'the' 3rd party manufacturer or lenses.

Lovely photos Roman.

I just bought the Tokina and am very happy with it (I have the Canon version). Perhaps the only complaint I have so far is the zoom travels in the opposite direction of my Canon and Sigma lenses.

Another vote here for the Tokina 12-24, the lens is sharp, flare resistant and like Roman says you can still use filters on it (be careful of vignetting though). Here are a couple of shots from the Gooseberry Falls Park in Minnesota.

Wow, some really nice images and opinions here. I just picked up a Tokina 17mm f/3.5 ATX Pro for my Canon 30D. Initial tests are fairly impressive and it cost next to nothing from KEH. But, before I head to Montana this summer I will also need a true ultra-wide and will give this Tokina a serious look.
