Before I post the pictures let me say that I'll be out of town for almost a week. So I won't be able to respond until I get back.
Sorry I'll be photographing the 2 legged type of nature on this trip and possibly a few fish.

Anyways I took this picture yesterday. It's hand held

Then today I did the unthinkable.
I grabbed out my best tripod, and went to see my favorite models.
They had absolutely no problem with me setting up, and left me get closer and closer to them.
Here's the results

All the photo info should be attached. You'd be surprised at the exposure I was able to get away with today.

Anyways I hope that you all have a good week, and I'll respond to any comments when I get back

I have a question, only because I shoot very differently. Why are you shooting at f19 and down to 1/8th of a second? Even with a tripod, there will be motion blur from the deer. Though the one looks pretty sharp for that shutter speed!

I guess I am just curious as to your F stop reasoning.

Julie, Stu,

I'm assuming that Julie is getting those settings from the EXIF data but if you look at the images -- especially the DOF -- it's highly unlikely that the F-stop is F19. The focus area is just too shallow.

Stu, what WERE you shooting at?

Curious Jim
