Hi Jim:

Saw your earlier post, but didn't respond because my favorite spots in Colorado are quite a drive from Greeley. But, since you haven't had any better suggestions:

1. Dinosaur N.M. - It straddles the border between Utah and Colorado and is about 350 miles west of Greeley along US Highway 40. The Green River flows through the NM and there is a paved road that leads up to the plateau from which you can see forever. Also lots of gnarled old pines that I plan to go back later this year to photograph.





OR:

2. Black Canyon of the Gunnison NP - About the same distance SW along US Hwy 50.

Excellent camping at both locations, but hotel/motel accommodations are probably closer and more plentiful in Gunnison.
