nice capture. Those things are about the most spooky birds I've ever tried to photograph, plus, they dont sit still, in the same place for long. I find them harder than stalking herrons in the wideopen west. If you've not tried that, give it a try, it's not like shooting them in Ding, or Blackwater, or Chechotegue, or those eastern locations where you can almost reach out the rig and grab them. I love the king fisher, and herrons and when I lived back east I could not believe how many birds there were along the coast durring the winter. . .

Where did you photograph him? They look more blue than the ones out here in Montana. . .
