Rocky Mountain National Park News:
Bad weather equals fewer visitors
Park visits off double-digits in May
Poor May weather, and record snow in the high country, not only kept Trail Ridge Road from opening on time over the Memorial Day weekend, it also cut into the number of people visiting Rocky Mountain National Park. With 156,767 people tallied in May 2011, visits were down over 18 percent from the same time last year, when 192,490 were counted. Visits for the year are off nearly seven percent, at 439,407 this May, compared to 471,081 during the same time last year.
