Is the bear coat a desirable trait in terms of shows? We have a fluffy corgi and although we LOVE the long hair, it's considered a defect.

As I explained further up in my reply to PeggySue, the Bearcoats lost their breed standard status in the 1980s. It's a real pity, particularly because of the extremely small gene pool. And of course as they are the most beutiful subspecies of the Pei breed.
By the way, my vet also has got Corgis and one of them is fluffy, too.
