The horizon is almost exactly in the middle. You have two objects competing for attention. The dead pine, and the large rock in the front of the image. Your attention is split between the foreground and the background. Try cropping the photo from the log laying on the ground up. The photo is a little over exposed. Can you fix that in post? Have you considered processing this in B&W?
