Solicitation of a Prospectus for Guided Ski Touring Services within Grand Teton National Park
The National Park Service (NPS) will issue a Prospectus soliciting proposals for the award of three (3) Concession Contracts for Guided Ski Touring Services within Grand Teton National Park on December 20, 2012. The Prospectus explains the business opportunities and the terms and conditions under which the NPS will award the Concession Contract. The Director, pursuant to 36 CFR, Part 51, has determined that the existing concessioner is a preferred offeror for the Contract.

Visitation to Great Smoky Mountains National Park increased in December
Traffic into Great Smoky Mountains National Park was up 7.5%, or 676,997 more visitors than recorded during 2011. Visitation for the 2012 year totaled 9,685,828 compared with 9,008,835 in 2011. This is the highest number of visitors since 2000 when the park saw 10.1 million people.

New superintendent named for Haleakala National Park
The National Park Service has named Natalie Gates as the new superintendent of Haleakala National Park. Gates, chief of natural resource management at Point Reyes National Seashore in California, will start her new job in March.

Japanese dock 'treated' in Olympic National Park
The threat of invasive species aboard a 65-foot dock that washed ashore in a remote section of coast in the Olympic National Park in Jefferson County has been addressed as of Jan. 4, according to the Washington Department of Ecology website.
