Well,

I am just over a month from my annual family trip to Yellowstone. This year is going to be very different because I am doing 2 weddings while out there. This means that my vacation time is going to be much shorter, as typically the day after a wedding, I feel like I was hit with a ton of bricks.

This year, I am planning on doing some different things. I have been watching hip and chest waders on e-bay and may purchase a set for doing some photo work from in the rivers - though part of me just says to get a pair of swim trunks and go from there.

I am going to try light painting this year when I have the opportunities in the Tetons and in Yellowstone. I also plan on trying some star trail shots (my prior attempts were 'ok' but nothing to write home to mother about).

I am planning on purchasing a new tripod head...though I am still not sure which one. I would like to spend under $300, and have read (and re-read) the tripod heads thread on shop talk several times. I just don't know which one to pick up.

Any ideas for other exciting gadgets/things to look at doing in Yellowstone? I have been debating trying to figure out which radio frequency the rangers use in the radio collars of the critters and trying to follow the trail rather than the older fashioned methods, but I am not sure if it is considered in good taste or not (not that I plan on eating any of the critters, LOL).

Cheers
James
