Located in the Islands of the Sky area of Canyonlands NP near Upheaval Dome. The hike to False Kiva is rather short, but don't let that fool you, this is no easy hike. The trail goes down the rocks, just to the right of the opening of the alcove on the left about a quarter mile away. You have to climb over the rocks which often have gravel as an added touch of drama. The trail goes under the alcove on a somewhat narrow trail with approximately 1,000 ft drop and no handrails or fences. Then you have a moderately steep climb up to the alcove. This is a fairly primitive hiking trail.
