I too think that Buddy pretty well nailed it for this image and Roman's advice is spot on. I'm not a big lover of sepia toning, but I think it does work here.

I would be interested in seeing what the original color version looked like. There are some tricks that can be done with conversion to BW depending on the colors. Any chance you could post a good sized color version?
