I was going through some old photographs -- very old -- to supply some images for my sister's retirement party in a few weeks and I came across this image.

Yes, that's my sister and me and somebody's pony at the start of my equestrienne career. And, the end of it as well as it turns out .

So, I was thinking, why not pony portraits. What's the price of the pony? Of course, there is the issue of feeding the pony but I have Rotties. It can't be much more than one of them. And the veterinary bills. Again, I have Rotties. Can't be much more than one of them.

And, it today's society, there would be insurance and liability issues that would have to be considered. Not to mention the trailer to take the pony to each neighborhood. Then there is the issue of "waste cleanup" which would be important in the neighborhoods we'd want to go to.

Once you add everything up, it's no wonder this piece of Americana has disappeared. And isn't it just a pity! This is one of our family's most treasured moments and a moment in my own memory that will always be there.

Ever wonder why everything has to be so complicated? What ever happened to cute pictures of kids with a pony? Sigh.
