That's my category also. We are held back by having three dogs: most national parks and camping areas are no-dog zones. Great way to do some photography though, and I wish digital had been available way back then. One camping trip with friends took over a year, we drove around the country in the VW Kombi, worked now then but not much, and slept on every beach in the country. That was in the fairly naive, fairly drug-free days, don't think I'd risk it now.
In 1980 I camped mostly in the car travelling for two months from New York to San Francisco. I got all the flack from New York colleagues that I'd never survive the first day, but the whole trip was a success. Camping was a great base for events, Oshkosh, Mt St Helens just after the eruption, mule trip down the Grand Canyon. Cheated with the odd motel night to clean up, but mostly camped alone in the car and never had any problems, just lots of help along the way. Took mostly slides, sadly they haven't survived long storage too well.
Edit to add: some women won't consider camping, just like some of us won't consider high heels.
