I'd say for an opportunity like the one you describe, and if youre into photography, go spend the money you need to make the shots better. I think you can do it without any new gear. You need some different angles and some better light - clouds would help too.
Now on to this statement: "they want to see the entire back ground they dont want me to focus on the subject in the bronze statue they want to see more of the display."
I understand what your saying, but you MUST have a subject, you can not just go out and snap away, you really need to concentrate and compose. The fact that they dont want you to focus on the obvious subject is not a licence for you to not have a subject. Every shot, big or small has a subject. Dont over do it by just putting a wider lens on but really sit down and compose a shot that will show what they want you to show. I think it's safe to say that a photo that shows a lot of area but half of it is a bush, is not what they are after.
I recomend you show them more area and subject. Your current shots are in that middle range where it's hard to know what you want the viewer to focus on. If the client wants more area you better give them more than you posted in those shots, but still have a message and a subject.
Try to back way out, climb a tree, rent a tommy lift, do whatever it takes to show them more, but I think your shots still are in that zone of not enough but maybe too much, if you know what I mean. . .
It may not be possible to what I describe without some serious effort on your part, but if they want the best, you should take this on as a major step in the evolution of your photographic life and give them somthing that will blow their socks off!
Best of luck!
