I have been following this forum for about a month; I am a professional wildlife photographer but thinking of dabbling in Pet Photography. I have enjoyed the atmosphere on this site.

Welcome, John. Where in Florida are you located?

You have a very impressive wildlife portfolio.

Hey John,

Welcome from me as well. I was checking out your website - you have some really nice work. Curiously, I see you have lots of 'really cool wildlife in snow,' i.e. a bobcat, a mountain lion, etc. Are these captive animals?

James

A very welcome to you. Your work is very impressive and you are a super addition to our clan. I will be curious how you make the segue to pet artwork.

Thanks for all the compliments.

Jim, I live part of the time in the St. Petersburg area and also part of my time is spent in Russia.

welcome. I'd love to see some wildlife shots from Russia, do you have any of that material to show us?

John,
well, that's convenient: from St. Petersburg, FL to St. Petersburg, RU . I live in Orlando and if you have any great locations for wildlife shooting in the Central Florida region, I'd love to hear about them.

As for pet photography -- the other kind of wildlife shooting -- I'll be happy to share what I know.

Welcome,

Jim

Hi Jim, never been to St. Petersburg, Russia-I spend my time in the wilderness and parks of Russia. St. Pete, RU is a bit to city-like for my taste. My last major project in Russia was at Muraviovka Park, Far East Russia. I hope next time to go to Wrangel Island and Yakutia, the coldest inhabited place on earth.

Got any images? Love to see some Russian wildlife. . . . also, I'd love to hear how you processed that eagle shot, the one where the Eagle is approaching with wings and talons stretched out. . .

Thanks for your help and time. . .

Only Russia wildlife I have is birds.

The Eagle shot was nearly full frame on a 70-200 lens, just about hit me as I was sitting in icy water when it came after a fish. Processing was just normal photoshop, adjust levels, very moderate curves for a touch of contrast and some sharpening; nothing else.

That is part of my style, simple "in your face" photos that move your heart.
