Hi everyone, I'm new to this group, and I've been lurking for awhile getting a feel for how things work. I thought I'd start by sharing some images of my pets. the first two are of my Lab Archie. one is a portrait and the other I made him lay down in a set that I'm working on. Third one is my boarder collie, Zoom.

thanks
Barb

Nice shots, Barb. I particularly like the lighting and composition in this one.

Great dogs.

Barb,

Labs are my favorite breed. I just lost a chocoloate Lab named "Trooper" recently. He would have been 13 years old this April 15th. We still have his sister Brandee.

I loved your photos especially of your yellow lab, Archie. Really loved the barn shot. Excellent side lighting. What kind of camera and lens did you use for each shot and what were the camera settings, i.e. aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc.

Hi Barb, and welcome to the forum. Your images of Archie and Zoom are wonderful. The environmental shot of Archie is superb. If you are working on that set now I cannot wait to see it completed. Looking forward to more images.

Nice work, I especially like the barn shot. The lighting is superb, a bit of cross lighting with excellent modeling.

thanks for the comments on my images. The portrait shots of Archie and Zoom were taken with my Nikon D1, and 80-200 lens. My barn set is in a large room that was never finnished by the people that owned my house previously. the room has wood plank floors and two sliding glass doors. I got the idea for this barn. I put some barn boards up in front of one glass door, and added other old things that I have been collecting. I had one strobe and shoot through umbrella on my right. I wanted to give the illusion that the sun was comming through a door on the left so I used a can light and barn doors do give the light an edge. I did have to warm it up a little in PS. Im attaching another picture that I took this week of a little boy. I did work on this one a little more in PS because I wanted it to have a old drawing effect.
thanks again for your comments, good or bad, I really appreciate them

Welcome and very nice photos! I love the barn shot, very neat setup. There is something about the lighting I am not thrilled with, but, I can't put my finger on it. I think you definitely gave the feel of light streaming in, but, it need a little something, maybe more warmth.

I dunno, it is so small I can't put my finger on it
