Thanks David but not possible, the drive is completely dead; only possible way of recovery is to remount the platters in another drive-cost over $500 (I was quoted $950.00)

When a drive won't even spin up, remounting the platters in another drive is the only way possible to recover data. If the drive will spin up, then Active Undelete will recover the data. I keep everything on 2 hard drives and CD/DVD's.

I would also try to plug the drive into another computer. It wouldn't be the first time a dead drive was good and just wasn't getting power.

Or try a different USB cable and port. As David says, sometimes the drive isn't getting juice. I've had ports go bad on me so try plugging it into a different one and see what happens. It's the low-cost attempt to solve the problem. May not work, but it's worth a try.
