Hi everybody,
just wanted to get your opinions on this recent image in Cades Cove Tennessee.
I've passed this tree many times at visits to Cades Cove, but this was one
of the best opportunities for an image.

I submitted it to National Geo's "Your Shot" and it made it to the Daily dozen site for the 1st Week of June.

Hope the Editors at National Geo Like it.

The design of the image is lovely. I am not sure about the split look of black and white on top and color on the bottom. I think that makes the image disunited. I might try warming up the top to see if that works a bit more evenly.

thanks peggysue,

I also thought that maybe the black clouds on the left would be too dramatic, but that's how they came out when I added some saturation to the image.
I will try your idea to try and blend the two areas etc.

The RAW image looks totally flat to me.

thanks,
Dale

Thanks Julie,

Glad you like the image....

good luck on your new Studio. It looks great.

since you are in Maryville, I'm sure you must have been to Cades Cove.
It's one of my favorite places to Hike and photograph animals.
I live in Boone, NC so it's about a 3 to 4 hour drive, but I go as often as I can.

thanks again
Dale

Lovely image. I am particularly interested in the Cades Cove area because my ancestors settled this region in the very early 1800's.

I guess there is no need to ask why they are called the Smokey Mountains.

Very nice shot, I like it a lot.

Dale,

Nice picture. Interesting how the color only really shows in the grass. Have you looked at it as a B & W?

Here is, I think, the same tree from last October. Love Cades Cove!

Hi David,

I went back to my RAW file and reworked the image to remove the black & white on the top of the photo.

this image works better for me now too.

thanks,
Dale
