This image kind of reminds me of life .
The old dying snags up front dying from a bug I cant even spell or pronounce ,all are tomatoes, potatoes, peaches are sprayed with an average of 30 kinds of toxins, and were all consuming the same thing, then taking {drugs} . But when you hold your head up and plod on you can see the wonderful light with so many colors it just gives you the shivers when you are there no captured image can compare . Your opinions appreciated good , bad etc. Would you blow this up to say 24x36?

Here is one of your major problems. This scene is really needing a DBL split ND filter (intended for sunrises with the dark a section in the middle and upper and lower sections fading to clear.) or bracketing for later blending.

Not a bad perspective but I find the foreground very distracting….will comment in PP section.

7 of 10. Its ok but nothing pushing the limits here of creativity. (which is pretty hard to do in landscape work)

Emotion :
8 of 10 – Pretty emotional moment….makes me want to be there. :~)

Forethought/Visualization:
5 of 10 – Again…the foreground competing with this scene is really distracting me from the glory of the sunrise.

Post processing:
Here is where I have the most problems…..and where the most difference can be made to make this disserving picture MUCH better.
Darken the foreground so the eye is not drawn to it. The subject is the foreground the way you have it now….and I am sure that is not what prompted you to take this picture. Not sure how accurate the colors are, the clouds seem less natural as well with heavier purple color to them. All these issues are correctable to really make the sunset the dominant point of interest.

Randall, would you be willing to even post a non processed shot of the orgional scene to play with? I hope my cretique didnt come across as harsh. It is of course just from my perspective. This is a really nice shot, I would just be interested in how it could be adjusted to put the focus on the sunrise.

Love the idea of this photo, although the horizon breaking the picture immediately in half is distracting.

Be Glad to Roman ,cant wait to see how you will process this .I was shooting at that time with my d100 not my d2x and I think I used an nd filter which at time I didnt know how to slide it to fade the effect. here is the original shot
