that's what my folks used to call these little gray jays when i was a kid camping in the mountains. these little guys are quite brazen, and will practically steal food from your plate. i've seen them perch and eat from people's hands, like they have no fear at all... but they're such cute little guys!
Nice shots. I recently got the same lens (Canon 100-400mm) with the same camera (30D). I've done a few shots of birds, but haven't been close enough to get this good, especially at 200-260mm as the EXIF data says.

these gray jays are exceptionally outgoing, and aren't afraid of people at all... they'll approach within just a few feet, especially if they think there's food to be had, so taking good pics of them is pretty easy. but they are fast, and flit about quite a lot, so you have to be quick...
congrats on the new gear... the 100-400L is an excellent lens for a wide variety of outdoor subjects.
Dave, I must be missing something obvious. What is / where can I get an exif reader? I think the water drop on the beak is the touch that shot. 2 & 3 best background blur..
