OK, here goes my first image post. This is my full time Assistant, my primary model and test subject, and best buddy. He was born in a shelter, my wife and I rescued him when he was about 12 weeks old and weighed 3 pounds. Now he is at 18 lbs and has finally grown into his long tail. Whenever I go into my studio he jumps up on my shooting tables and starts to pose until he gets a treat. A head study:

What an able assistant he is too! Very nice, even for a cat

Outstanding shot. Great lighting on a, ahem, black cat and what a great model!

Most cats don't like to pose. You have yourself an excellent assistant. What's his name?

Jim

Pretty cat, cute name. Isn't it funny how our own animals learn to love to pose for us?

I'm sure this is too much information, but we (my wife) names based on coffee. Our first is Starbux, to this we added another cup of coffee...MoJoe.

Preston,

Thanks for sharing MoJoe with us. He's gorgeous, and I love your blue backdrop. Is that a fabric?

I know what you mean about the readiness to pose! Skye is always patient with me when I get my camera out. When she was a baby, I took portraits of her every week and made a scrapbook. It's really special to look back on now, especially as I'm around a friend's small kitten, and I remember how tiny they are to start with.

Tori,

Thanks for your comments. It is a faux suede polyester from Hancock's.

I wish I had taken more kitten pictures...there's an old saying about the cobblers children having no shoes

LOL, my goes back and forth between being tollerant of me and outright disdain. They HATE the camera. Four Legged James was the worst. He just wanted to sit on the backdrop.

You are lucky to have a guy who actually does not mind posing. Usually, when I do cats, it is all using the feather flicker and treats. All motivation from me...bribery from them. :P

James
