Wood Duck Claws

After my trip to Albuquerque a couple of weeks ago to get my first wood duck. I came back home and looked them up on the internet and read this about them.

North America’s only representative of the perching ducks, Wood Ducks have sharp claws, that allow them to perch and climb in trees. These claws are found even on newly hatched young and allow them to climb out of the tree cavities or nest boxes which are the preferred nest sites.

From my 1st shots I could not see the claws, so back to wood duck country to see for myself. YUP!!! time for a Wood Duck Claw Hunt.

You sure can do Wood Ducks, keep up the good work. They are very hard to get close to here it takes so much effort most of the time I don't bother.
Thanks Randall
