I am ordering some new samples. Opinions on these two?

Beautiful. And they show a nice variation in theme. Are you ordering them on canvas?

Which backdrop is that on the second one? I love it.

These are really nice. Good choices. Although I really like #2 best, the metal ring coming out of the chin doesn't look quite right, I would clone it out.

Will they be canvas, framed prints? Are these two of your standard sizes that you'll be trying to up-sell?

You know I stared at that collar and decided that I wanted it left on and now I need to order another without. I guess that will show the difference of with and with collars. Even when we have a client that wants it left on, when they see it off they usually want it off.

The background is my painted wall. It must be spring cleaning (did I say cleaning?) or nesting or something but I need to redo the studio look. I am ordering all 16x20 to look uniform on one wall. I have seniors next to dogs next to cars and something has to unite the look.

How often do you guys change out your look?

They are both beautiful! For studio samples, show larger prints. You will sell bigger ones if you show them. Don't worry about uniformity of size. I rarely sell 16x20's anymore as they just look silly net to the 20x24's and 24x30's. The 30x40s are for people who want mantle prints

PeggySue,
I like them both. The Borzoi looks stunning in profile and the Cavalier has great attitude with that head tilt. I agree with Preston about the collar. I'd lose it.

I like the 16X20 size for my studio walls because I can take them with me when I set up my outdoor booth. Larger prints would be too big for the tent. But, my studio is fairly compact so 16X20 works there. If you have more room, larger prints would be really nice. I mount mine on styrene and they stay pretty stable indoors or out.

I'm thinking of doing a bunch as gallery wraps on canvass for several of the Arts & Crafts shows in the area. Those will be as big as I can afford. If I like them, I may integrate them into my studio display as well. As Julie says, once folks see the big prints they really want them.

I must admit I have no desire to redo the studio although adding a skylight would be wonderful for available light, shallow DOF types of portraits. Maybe next Spring .

Jim

Just feedback from the everyday novice peanut-gallery here, but those are stunning images.

Man, I wish I could paint a wall like that! I don't have that much luck when it comes to wet media

Jim, painting on a wall is kind of like finger painting. You just keep playing around with it until you like it. Sponges, rags, anything you can move the paint around with will work. I usually play with three colors.

I received the images and have been dry mounting them today. Of course I cannot see anything but the collar! I ordered ten images and I am trying to play with multi-purposes with them. I agree with you Jim G about carrying them around. Also, I usually do not want to go much larger than life size and the Cavalier is definitely larger than life.

Julie, I know size is what I usually hear at PPA meetings. I do have larger pieces too. Thanks for stating that, as it is important to note. You cannot sell what you do not show.

Cathy, there is no peanut gallery here but we do get a little nutty!

Thanks all for the input. Greatly appreciated.

Hey Peggy Sue,

I agree with the consensus. They are both excellent. I will admit being partial to the Cavalier though. What a CUTE image...and I love the way you handled the background colors.

James
