Big Horn Sheep (8)

This time of the year these sheep hang out in a valley about 30 miles North of my place.

This gentleman was looking away from me so I used my crow call and he turned and stuck his tongue out at me.

Hi Roger:

Thanks for sharing these. Re no.6 -- focal length 500 mm at 1/200th sec. Tripod? Shoulder harness? or no coffee for over a month?

Jim

Hi Jim, my BushHawk. My 500 lens is on the BushHawk 95% of the time. 2 or more pots of coffee everyday.

Roger, when you use the Bush Hawk, do you look through the viewfinder or use live view? Assuming, of course, that the sun/glare isn't too bright for live view.

When I pull up the BushHawk to shoot it is the same as when I pull up a rifle with a scope on it. The viewfinder is IMHO about the same as using a rifle scope.

Jim, what I do is put my padded sling over my left shoulder and the BushHawk hangs down on my right side, as you can see by the photo its very fast to be ready to shoot. This also makes it easy to carry in the woods. It also works well on horseback.

A closer look.

That solves several problems all at once. Is that just a standard Canon shutter release built in to the trigger, or how does that work? Thanks for sharing.

BTW...I'm just curious...with the eagle flying over and the big tip right in front of you...what is it that you found more interesting to be shooting in that photo?

Great shots of the bighorn sheep.

I bought the trigger cable from BushHawk for my camera. The photo is a flyer I made up for my camera hunting company, using 5 different photos. After I built it I decided not to use it.

I went to radio shack and bought the plug & socket needed and built my own from a Nikon remote release. Bushhawk even sent me the wiring diagram. Since I already had the remote release and only had to buy the plug & socket, it cost me less than $7.00 to make. I now have an "extenstion cord" for my remote release, a cable for my Bushhawk and the original Nikon remote release.
