Thanks to everyone for your sympathy and your kind words. Linda and I appreciate them more than you know. Losing both boys in the same day was very difficult. But, in some ways, it was actually a relief.
Had we tried to go through another 3 or 4 months with Crash as we had with Rowdy -- watching him die a little every day -- I don't think it would have been good for anyone in the household. Least of all, Crash. But God's plan must have been to take him swiftly because by the time we discovered the cancer, it had already progressed too far. Waiting would not have been for long and would not have been pleasant for Crash. We really had no choice.
As for Rowdy, he left us the same way he lived his life -- with dignity and love. At no time in the 3 months since his diagnosis did he ever complain. Even when I had to lift him up in the middle of the night to take him outside, he only licked my ear and said "aren't you too old to be doing this kind of thing?" Smartass dog!

He was very special. As was Crash. Rowdy make me promise not to post stuff with all his titles and achievements. He said that kind of stuff is only important when we're alive. When we are dead, the most important thing is to say: "He was a good dog. He loved everyone and he was in turn loved by many."
Thank you all for your support.
Jim
