I was asked to take some photos of our youngest dog for her breeder so I used the opportunity to test out a different lighting set-up: one Alien Bee 400 monolight set high directly in front of the subject bounced off of a silver umbrella. Here are the results; and here are the 3 members of our "C" Litter: Cassidy: Annihaus Rowdy's B Cassidy. A Rowdy daughter/Annie granddaughter who just needs one more win to complete her AKC Championship. Coco: Annihaus Crem'D'Coco Chanel. An Annie daughter out of our first breeding, Coco blew out both of her knees (ACLs) at 18 months of age and never finished her championship. She'll start Rally Obedience this week. Crash: Driftwood's Hard Drive. Crash is pointed in AKC competition but has a "gay" tail and will never finish. He, too, will start Rally Obedience this week. He is our requisite Golden Notweiler. Here is a much more representative picture of the Crash Muffin. Enjoy, Jim

James, All I did was pre-sharpen in PhotoKit Sharpener. Original files shot as RAW. Eyes in daylight are darker but with this type of lighting, they tend to open up a bit (which is what I was trying to find out). On the other hand, this set-up is easy to carry and does a nice job with the shadows. I still prefer my 45/45 set-up for studio work but I could use this approach in the field fairly easily. I like the Golden shot indoors but Crash with a toy is, well, CRASH. After he finishes his meal, he walks around the house with the dish in his mouth. He is SO blonde . Jim

Julie, given his excellent feromones, it is indeed a shame . However, after he put a hole in Rowdy's ear (120 lb male Rottie) we didn't feel that neutering him was all that bad an idea. Since then, he and Rowdy are back to being best buddies. And I don't have to explain to folks why Crash's tail curls over his back. We tell people he's an Akita cross . Jim

Great dogs and nice poses. Goldens are such goofy dogs, they just make me laugh looking at them. Cassidy's very pretty, I have a Cassidy with the same marking but a very different dog:)
Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff, thanks. Yes, we're very pleased with how Cassidy has turned out. Because she's an Annie Granddaughter (Ch Nordike's Ruffiann V Mobster CGC, TT, HIC, ARC Silver Producer) and a Rowdy daughter (A/C/BIS UCI International Ch Loral's Der Terminator CGC, TT, HIC, TDI) she represents the future of our "line". She has Annie's life and Rowdy's sweet soul.
In today's environment, Rotties need to be exemplary canine citizens and Cassidy certainly is. I'm proud of her. She's exceptionally sweet without sacrificing her "Rottiness". She would protect her family but she would never look for a fight. Perfect.
So, show me your "black & tan".
Jim
