I know I promised Julie to show the puppies doing something other than eating but that's mainly what they do these days. And yesterday, we started them on one meal a day of lapping goat's milk to get them used to using their tongues to lap and to get their tummies ready for some solid food in about a week. The process is hysterical and not every puppy masters the dish the first few times. Then, of course, there's the aftermath with the occasional barf and the inevitable diarrhea.

Here are a few pics of some of the kids during their feeding today. Thought you'd enjoy seeing them diving into the dish and the resulting cleanup project as a result of their efforts. They are all eating well and continuing to grow rapidly -- now hovering around 4 lbs. Oh, and the teeth are now breaking through. Ms. Juneau is less than pleased.

growing fast? I just had one go from 4 lbs to 4.5 lbs while I was holding him in my lap!!!

They are maturing very quickly and are so much fun to hold, hug, and snuggle as a group. Mom is not happy with those new teeth and has made it clear that she will feed but we must get them onto solid food quickly. Or else . They are handling the supplement well but Ms. Plummy is not eager to switch from mom to non-mom food so we'll have to work a bit on her. Her attitude is "I've just figured out how to suck the right nipple and now you want me to lap out of a dish? Are you nuts? I'm saving myself for mom."

Ah, puppies. They are so very loving and worth every minute we invest in them. Nothing in this world is more fun than an arm-full of puppies.
