These were really good dogs. I have never had dogs suck the light up like these giants. Holy cow, its like their fur was a black hole!!!I don't think there was any reflectivity to it!

Gracie wanted to be with me the whole time

Gizzy wanted nothing to do with any of this(I think he is 15)

The female giant is pretty laid back

The boy is a huge 110lbs and pretty goofy

Julie,
you did a nice job with these. I find that Giant Schnauzers, Bouvier, Newfies and black Chows are really difficult to light. Again, no reflectivity to their coats. The Giants here seem to come off of the lighter backgrounds better but it's still hard to get any highlights from the coats.

Now, this is where you need lots of watt/sec. in your strobes. Nice dogs.

Jim

I had plenty of power left, I wasn't quite to half power(usually I am at about a quarter power though) The problem becomes overlighting everything else.

Dobies reflect light like crazy. Most dogs have SOME reflectivity. I guess its because they have more hairlike fur vs slick fur

Exactly...my customers think I'm crazy when I start putting their black cats on dark colors, but they are usually pleased with the results.

Nice photos. I guess you are working over the holidays.

Abnormally elevated energy levels. Like new splash pages for Christmas and then for New Years. Sittings on Christmas Eve processed by Boxing Day. Photo of the Year contests. New blog entries every day. I'll bet it is all paying off in increased sales. You go Juile.

I think I need an eliptical machine I am just trying to keep people coming in, even though this is usually the slowest time of the year. Makes me wonder if I should fly to AZ and do portraits at the 2010 national. I'll never do another national as the OP, but, I know I will be at the 2011 one set up as a portrait photographer(in KY).
