Hey John,

I think that this shot, while pleasing in composition needs a small bit of tweeking in post-processing work. Would you be offended if I took a stab at it and re-posted the link?

James

John, I like this it is a very peaceful and quite scene. I find the shot a little static. I like the break in the grass in the upper left, but it's not enough to keep my eyes moving around the shot. I keep coming back to the dock in the center. It looks like good soft light on a nice foggy morning but it's slightly underexposed. I wish there was more of a diagonal to the pier. Maybe if you cropped off a little from the right side it would place the dock more off center and help some. Overall I like the photo.

Thanks, Jeff

James, you're welcome to process it, but you can't post to the link, since it's a contest entry at Betterphoto. If you want to attach it to the thread or use another URL, that's ok.

thanks,

John

I did a very gentle curve on this to increase the contrast a bit. I think I may have been a bit too gentle, but I like the slightly brighter one better. I really like the photo...I am wondering if we should crop it a bit though? I am also thinking brighten a bit more and put more emphasis on the dock. Or, do we stop here? What do you think?

John,
I like your first shot better. I like the look of all that water in the foreground. I think you have a keeper in that shot and a little work like James did will go a long way.

Thanks, Jeff
