I don't even get TV here. Too far away to get signal out of the air for an antenna, can't get cable and too cheap to buy satelite. From what I have seen from a lot of the programs, I am not missing anything. If I had satelite, then I would get the discovery channel, history channel, western channel and Starz movie channels. I would probably check out National geographic and maybe have them as well.

I only have cable so I can get the modem for good internet connections. I probably would have it otherwise. In college I went almost a year without TV and that was pre-internet. On the other hand, my wife is the keeper of the remote, and when I tell her there is no cable in most of the areas of Alaska she would want to live, there will be some rumblings. There are a few good channels on cable, but I would be hard pressed to get my moneys worth it were only me in the house. This one program sounds interesting though:)
Thanks,
Jeff

David, If and when we move up there it is avoidance of big cities we would look for. We are off the beaten path now, but some more separation is desired. We are out of town a little here too, we have no DSL, but cable is available. Apparently the company I use declares themselves as the originator of Cable. The valleys are plentiful in this region and a lot of people have no reception down in them. So a TV Repair guy back in the 40s or 50 had an aerial up on the Mt and strung wire to everyone house. Is this completely true, who knows, but as such I do have cable:) We never fenced our land. You are right, I suppose a deer would do a lot less damage then a moose, but had we fenced our land, I am sure it would be all crushed down by the hunters chasing the deer:) And I think they eat "safety zone" and "no hunting" signs:)
Thanks,
Jeff
