I was not prepared to a big trip this weekend so I just went into the woods behind my house looking for wildflowers. I was surprised to find very few but here is what I got.

Wild Geranium

A couple ferns

And one of my favorites Adders tongue.

But while I was down there I did run across this guy rustling in the leaves.
Rufous-sided Towhee

C&C Always welcome

Thanks, Jeff

Hey Jeff,

You have your own conservatory in your back yard!! I have to shlep to the Bronx if I want to see things like this. Very nice.

Well James, not really a conservatory as that implies a planed habitat, but I do have some room to stretch. I grew up in suburbia, maybe 40 miles west of the Hudson. I always loved the woods, but that is a dwindling resource in the suburbs. My first house also was very suburban/urban with a 40 foot by 100 foot lot. When we moved this last time we looked for a more rural setting. I took a few photos about a year ago to create a 360 pano while standing in the woods in my back yard. I really need to redo it because I quickly lost interest in the imperfect nature of the photo alignment but have never redone it. Lighting is a bitch and this foggy day right after a rain provided the best I had seen. For scale, I am probably 100-150 feet from my house here. This is a HUGE file, 2.3meg I believe, so beware.
So, out there, I can always find something to shoot. On top of that I am surrounded by neighbors with probably 30 or 40 acres of unmaintained woods similar to the wood you see here. If you look closely, with the slider in the middle of the photo, you may be able to make out the creek down there.

2.3meg file of a 360°+ Pano

Thanks, Jeff
