Show off. Seriously, a great shot!

BTW, thanks for the feedback earlier today. I now have a new URL for my professional site.

Jesus Christ Tony, soon you will be using wide angle lenses for your wildlife work!

Very cool.

Thanks, Jeff

LoL, now I've given that some thought! I did shoot a ram one time with a 17-35! I'll try to find it. . . It's a crazy shot.

That bison shot was made with a 80-400 vr nikon zoomed out to 400 on a d2h, iso 640.

there have been a few times already this year that I could have used a wide angle lens and gotten great shots. like two days ago when I almost got run over by this moose. I was not looking for them, or stalking them, this moose stalked up on me and before I knew it he had just about eaten me for lunch. This is a wild, hunted moose too. This aint no jackson hole yellowtone moose!

I had just enough time to turn and rattle off a few frame before I got the heck out of the way. I was set up to shoot ducks so did not expect to have a moose sneek up on me. . . its a blurry shot but he's moving fast, I'm almost moving fast and I'm out of light, it's a 1/60's shutter speed and I think the lens focused on the body, not the face. . . Like I said, I was shooting and looking for an escape route!

they are all wild so long as they are not captive or behind a fence. even the ones in yellowstone and teton are wild, only they are more habituated and tollerant of humans becasue they are NOT normally hunted. the bulls in the area around my house are hunted and therefore they are very much on the alert for humans, as well as grizly bears and wolves, their main predators.

LOL, I was being a bit tongue and cheek. My experience with the Yellowstone moose is that for the most part they are quite habituated to us. Having said that, they are still more than a bit ornery during the Sept/October months.

Pardon the light on this guy...it was around 11 AM and it was bright...

That's cool... My favorite game meat is moose. I just cant seem to draw a tag for one! I need to come up there and take one. By the time I got the meat home it would be worth 20 bucks a pound!

Enjoy the venison, I'll eat some deer meat tonight!
