No sooner is the Bluebird out of the house and in comes the Wren. 7 years and the Bluebird finally had a nest in there before the Wrens.

For those unfamiliar with Wrens, from Head to Butt he is about 3 inches. I was about 12-15 feet from him with my 300f4 and 1.4TC on a tripod. Thankfully he was very distracted with nest building. Second brood of the year.

Thanks, Jeff

Very nice shot Jeff. The composition of this photo is wonderful. Everything brings you right back to this lovely little bird. Glad to hear the house is getting a workout this year!

Hey Jeff,

Love the shot. Sorry again that we missed up yesterday. I made a couple of minor changes to your wren shot kicking up the shadows a slight bit and compressing the curve. What do you think?

James

Thank you Peggysue. It is the most popular house in our little neighborhood. I think I will add more Bluebird houses to the yard for next year.

Thanks James. Hey I'll be off the rest of the week too:) Maybe next time. I think your adjustments look better I'll apply that to my shot too.

Thanks, Jeff

Love little Wrens. In Australia the males and females of various Wren species (generally) have different plumage. Interested to know if its like that in other countries.

The lens you used, is that an IS or non IS version? Thanks!

Chessyr,
This is the House Wren, we also have a Winter, Carolina, Bewick’s, Cactus, Rock, and Marsh Wrens in the states. They are hard to tell apart. Slight differences in size, call, and shades of brown:) They are a very neat bird and small.

The lens I used is not IS, it is a Nikon 300f4, an old one. I did have it on a tripod though. Kind of Mechanical IS:)

Thanks, Jeff
